Thank You, Disney, for Bringing Octavio Carlin To Fashion

While Octavio was studying interior design, he was introduced to a woman who worked for Disney and it was through her that he got his job at the wardrobe department making costumes for videos, CD-roms, and TV shows. This sparked a heavy interest in Octavio and once he got going in costume, he switched his major from interior design to fashion design and never looked back. According to Octavio, this is when he found his niche.

Who would have thought that we'd have Disney to thank for the Octavio Carlin line! Tune in for next week about how he navigated through the fashion world and the ways in which he discovered his personal design style.

Octavio, An Interior Designer?

Before Octavio started creating beautiful gowns and dresses, he first actually wanted to pursue a career in interior design. It's not that unbelievable to fathom. After all, he did design the layout and chose the decor for the new atelier. He even designed a loveseat that we feature in the store window display. His interior design style mirrors his fashion taste, very elegant Old Hollywood glam but with a contemporary twist, reflective of his love for clean modern architecture.

So, how did interior design turn into fashion design? Disney has something to do with that and you'll find out on the next post.

Designer Gowns Galore!

Yesterday, we had a fun mini-shoot for our instagram at our newly opened atelier to capture some of Octavio Carlin's exquisite one-of-a-kind gowns. We always could have just photographed them on hangers but, that's no fun! We wanted to give you the full effect and hangers do not do these gowns enough justice! These pieces are originals, meaning only one was ever produced.

Our friend, Ericka Carynn, who also happens to be a model, looked absolutely gorgeous in all the pieces. Our fave on her was the black gown, or was it the pink number? You guys tell us. She looked fabulous in all of them! Thanks, Ericka! And a huge thanks to photographer, Alexa Hann, for working her magic with angles, lighting, and of course, the camera lens!

Enjoy the photos!
