Octavio Carlin |
Inspired by the golden Age of Hollywood, Octavio Carlin introduces an accessibly glamorous line for women who want to feel elegant, desirable, and who aren’t afraid of being noticed.
His dresses, made from exquisite fabrics, with well-chosen details, have become his signature. His designs are influenced by architecture: streamlined Art Deco, super-modern structures, Egyptian motifs. Carlin has designed and dressed starlets and hipsters in both LA and Mexico, including Sharon Stone, Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez, and Roselyn Sanchez.
Octavio Carlin first started designing in 1998. Upon graduating from FIDM, he worked as a costume designer for Disney, creating costumes for many of the Disney shows and music videos, designed under the label Naqada. In 2006, he launched his eponymous line, Octavio Carlin and opened a boutique and design studio in Los Feliz, where he developed a loyal clientele for whom he custom-designed evening and bridal pieces.
He re-launched his ready-to-wear collection in 2011. His RTW collection shows the same exacting attention to detail as his custom designs, as well as a mastery of fabric, with pieces that artfully combine silk, jersey, satin, and novelty fabrics. He creates affordable, figure-friendly, flattering pieces, that are structured, yet allow ease of use and wearability.
Octavio Carlin lives in Hollywood, where he’s an active member of the L.A. Conservancy, working to preserve old Hollywood and film restoration
