The Stars Wear Octavio Carlin

Two of our clients dressed so beautifully in their custom-made dresses, designed by Octavio Carlin. Sharon Stone wore her white dress while hosting a Charity Event and Paris Hilton wore her princess-like yellow gown to her birthday celebration. Doesn't Paris' dress remind you of Belle's from Beauty and the Beast? She requested it to look like that! You look lovely, ladies!

To have your own Octavio Carlin design, visit us at 309 N. Kings Rd Los Angeles, CA.

The Start of Octavio's RTW Line

After some years of designing custom-made evening & bridal gowns for his high-profile clients, Octavio decided to open his 1st atelier. This establishment was located in Los Feliz, a part of town that the designer loves. The place was to act as his studio where he can meet clients, and also sell his collection of one-of-a-kind high-end gowns and dresses. But Octavio's vision wasn't done yet. He loved seeing his client's look beautiful and feel confident in his designs and he wanted more women to experience that. So, the Octavio Carlin Exclusive Ready To Wear (RTW) Collection was born.

Octavio launched his 1st RTW collection in Spring 2012, which acted as a more affordable version of his high-end line. Now, more women can get to experience the glamor, elegance, and beauty that his designs are known for! See the entire collection here or visit us at 309 N. Kings Rd to see it up close in person!

What is Exclusive Ready To Wear?

Exclusive Ready-To-Wear (RTW) means using only the best fabric and materials. It means possibly offering only a very limited quantity per style, making each garment an exclusive piece. For women who hate the thought of wearing something that hundreds or thousands of other women are wearing, rejoice because Exclusive RTW is for you!

Wherever did this idea come from? It was inspired by the Slow Food Movement, in which chefs use only high-quality ingredients, despite how little there is available. The result, meals only the quickest of the quickest foodies will be able to enjoy.

Where can you get your hands on Exclusive RTW? At the Octavio Carlin Atelier, of course. Designer, Octavio Carlin, always starts with the best fabric that inspires his creativity. The result, an exclusive piece for the quickest of the quickest fashionistas to enjoy! Choose from one of kind dresses made out of vintage fabric, limited edition silks, and yummy soft jerseys. When you start with the best fabric, you end up with the best garment! Visit us at 309 N. Kings Rd to view our entire collection.

So Overdue

Hello everyone. So many things have happened in the past few weeks. Or actually, in the past few months. The store opening, the launch party, designing the Spring 2013 collection, and doing my custom designs for my regular clients. See, so much! That's why it's been a long time since I posted something on the blog. But the message I want to say is just thank you to everyone for your support.

I felt happy when I saw so many friends, clients, and members of the fashion community come to the grand opening. You guys know you make all the hard work worth it. Now that the Atelier if officially open, I am even more motivated than before. Spring 2013 is almost done and the Fall/Winter collection is already in store. So much to be thankful for and so much to look forward to. Thank you again for your continued love & support. I appreciate you.

Disney Costume Designer Turned Fashion Designer

Octavio Carlin with client, jazz singer, and Agenda Magazine editor, Kaylene Peoples

After designing costumes for Disney productions, Octavio found his love for fashion and began his career in the industry. It was no walk in the park trying to find his signature style, though. As Octavio put it,“You find your niche and your audience/client, but it has to be in tune with what is going on in the world. This is the challenge that I found.  Once I found it, I was very intrigued in obviously creating something, and the challenge of the business of fashion-selling.” So there is definitely a balance of creativity and business savviness that designers must think about.

As most of you know, Octavio's style is a mix of the old and the new. Leah Bergman of Latino Weekly could not have described it better in her interview with our fave designer:

Octavio Carlin takes Old Hollywood glamour and gives it a modern twist.  His pieces are elegant and exciting.  He embraces the feminine form and celebrates its curves.  His love for modern architecture gives his pieces clean, minimalistic lines that flow and make a woman feel beautiful while being comfortable. Read the entire article here

Having found his niche, Octavio started designing custom pieces for clients to wear at events like galas, movie premieres, and openings. So what was his next step? Opening his atelier and launching his RTW line, of course! Tune in for those details on next week's blog post.

Take a look at the Octavio Carlin Fall/Winter Collection here.
