A Stylish Night Out at The Los Angeles Theatre with Agenda Magazine

This latest shoot with Agenda Mag could not have been shot at a better location. The classic design and glamorous feel of the Los Angeles Theatre perfectly match the same elegance and sophistication that Octavio Carlin is known for. Here, Agenda features our Fall RTW collection, along with some one-of-a-kind pieces from Octavio's couture collection. The gold dress above is one of our faves from the Fall line, as it is a product of stylish meticulous attention to detail. All throughout the gown are swirls of fabric that give it a floral 3D effect. Follow this link to view our entire spread.

Get To Know Octavio: Part 1- Octavio Carlin, An Actor?

You heard it right! Before Octavio was making dresses for Sharon Stone, Paris Hilton, and Aimee Garcia, he was exercising his talent as an actor in Mexico. From childhood up until the age of 20, Octavio acted in mainly theatre productions, getting casted in comedic roles. His work in acting explains his love for film and the Golden Age of Hollywood, which are reflective of the glamour and elegance that are seen in his designs.

Acting, not fashion, is what actually first brought Octavio to California. So how did acting turn into a passion for fashion design? Tune in for the next post!

When Butterfly Illustrations Become Wearable Works of Art

The great thing about Octavio Carlin's designs is that it is more than just clothing. His work blends his passion and knowledge for Art and fashion. These dresses are the perfect examples. The butterfly print looks like delicate watercolor impressions atop of luxurious silk fabrics. Check out the back detail on the first dress. What looks to be a simple silhouette is elevated with a subtle back detail that will catch anyone's attention. As for the 2nd dress, we truly adore the integration of stripes. And the midi length paired with the boxy silhouette is reminiscent of 1920's fashion, an era that Octavio is fond of.

Stop by the Octavio Carlin Atelier to shop the entire RTW line or to consult about custom couture design services, perfect for Red Carpet evening gowns and bridal wear.

Because We Love Art: Laura Harris

After seeing photos of Laura Harris' work on facebook, we just had to do a blog post! You all know how much we love Art, especially Octavio! Check out these beautiful mosaics that are made from rare, precious, hand-cut materials like, dichroic glass, 24kt gold smalti, porcelain gems, one-of-a-kind ceramic tiles, faceted mirrors, natural river stones and an array of antique metals and delicate objects. She used bicycle gears for the hair piece, for crying out loud! How does she manage to turn hard and sharp objects into masterpieces that evoke softness, delicateness, and femininity? They are truly a sight to see! What do you guys think?

Email Laura Harris if you are interested in purchasing.

Watch The Octavio Carlin SS 2012 Runway Show

See our SS 2012 collection on the runway in action! We absolutely adore the luxurious look of the line, echoing Octavio's love for the Golden Age of Hollywood. Silk, silk, and more silk! It's fabulous how some of the outfits look glamorous but casual at the same time! This collection is anchored in the base color of plum and is inspired by his fondness for modern architecture and Art Deco, as well as 1920's lingerie.  Watch the video as Octavio explains his design process and how he got started in fashion.  The SS 2012 collection is available at the Octavio Carlin Atelier located at 309 N. Update From Me, Octavio Carlin

First of all, let me just say how happy I am that the atelier is now open. It was challenging to be designing and not have my own retail space. Fortunately now, women can shop my RTW line and also come in to have custom-made dresses designed by me. I've seen so many wonderful and supportive tweets from all of you about the opening and I just wanted to say thank you! Those words mean a lot to me and I would love for all of you to come the atelier. I want to share my work and my space with you because I enjoyed decorating it so much. Interior design is one of my passions. I chose a very elegant clean look, something that matches the style of my line. I love the chandelier and the unique chairs I made. Yes, I designed them myself! I thought it would be fun to create my own furniture and this one turned out pretty good. I wanted it to be a unique looking piece and evoke a classic and glamorous feel. They are made from high-quality materials, specifically chenille. These chairs are actually on sale at the atelier. Who knows, maybe there is an Octavio Carlin furniture line on the horizon......

See you on the next post,

OC
