Great Changes Are Coming

Change is in the air. In the next few days our old website will be a thing of the past and in its place a new one will rise. Only this time we will have an estore with unique RTW for sale along with beautiful new images. So we ask one thing from you, to please continue our conversation via social networks. Expect Some Good Changes!

We hope everyone had a great weekend honoring & celebrating the life and contributions of Martin Luther King Jr! We've got some exciting projects and changes that will be happening at the Octavio Carlin headquarters so before you encounter them, we just wanted to give you a little heads up!

1. We've been planning to add an online store to the website, which I know all of you have been waiting for. That is no longer the case. Instead, we are revamping our entire site so, the online store will be built into the new platform, not added! That means everyone in the country can now take advantage of the Octavio Carlin brand. 
2. Our beloved designer, Octavio Carlin, is busily finishing up his Fall Winter collection. Expect a lot of glamour, per pleasant usual, and a lot more focus on evening & special occasion. 
3. Expect some in-store events in the horizon where our loyal clients can preview new collections & exclusive pieces.

Throwback Thursdays: 1920's Style

The fashion back then was nothing less than glamorous. Women wore their full regalia, shiny headdresses, fancy high heels, and head-turning dresses. That level of style is what influences a lot of our collection, which is reminiscent of this fashionable era! This holiday season is the perfect time to visit our atelier at 309 N. What To Wear For Thanksgiving Dinner?

This event is always a tough one. You want to be dressy but not too dressy, as you'll be spending most of your time just relaxing on the couch with your friends and family. You want to be comfortable because you'll be eating quite a feast with the spread of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pumpkin pie. But, you also don't want to look too casual because it is still a formal family dinner. So what do you wear? Stylist and blogger, Elizabeth Keene, of A Keene Sense of Style, chose to pair our comfortable yet figure-flattering navy blue jersey dress with our taupe cascading sweater. Two of our clients dressed so beautifully in their custom-made dresses, designed by Octavio Carlin. Sharon Stone wore her white dress while hosting a Charity Event and Paris Hilton wore her princess-like yellow gown to her birthday celebration. Doesn't Paris' dress remind you of Belle's from Beauty and the Beast? She requested it to look like that! You look lovely, ladies!

Disney Costume Designer Turned Fashion Designer

After designing costumes for Disney productions, Octavio found his love for fashion and began his career in the industry. It was no walk in the park trying to find his signature style, though. As Octavio put it,“You find your niche and your audience/client, but it has to be in tune with what is going on in the world. This is the challenge that I found.  Once I found it, I was very intrigued in obviously creating something, and the challenge of the business of fashion-selling.” So there is definitely a balance of creativity and business savviness that designers must think about.

As most of you know, Octavio's style is a mix of the old and the new. Leah Bergman of Latino Weekly could not have described it better in her interview with our fave designer:
